Can't see network printer

I was trying to add a printer to a Vista laptop. Other boxes can see it on the network. From the laptop, its IP address can be pinged and a drive is mapped to that IP address but no printer appears to be visible in Explorer and cannot be found in the add printer wizard. What could be the reason?

AFAICR the printer is shared via the machine 'SERVER', which is visible to other boxes on the network, but not the laptop, although that has a drive mapped to SERVER
